Hi, I'm Colin

WHERE I COME FROM
Colin Robinson is seeking the nomination to become your next MLA for Portage la Prairie.
Colin was born in Calgary, Alberta to two hardworking middle-class parents. Affected by the financial crisis of 2007-2008, he had to watch his parents make the difficult decision to leave their home in Calgary and relocate to the smaller town of Portage la Prairie in search of a better life for their children. Despite the challenges they faced, it wasn’t long until Portage was soon called home. He was provided with many opportunities such as access to a great education, mentorship programs and a supportive community that helped him succeed.
During his high-school and early university years, Colin served as a Dietary Aide and Recreational Aide to the senior residents of Douglas Campbell Lodge and Lions Prairie Manor, and then later worked at the Manitoba Development Centre (MDC) and other community organizations oriented towards those living with intellectual disabilities.
Being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at a young age, Colin knows from firsthand experience the importance of ready access to healthcare. While his diagnosis was a pivotal moment in his life, the care he received from the Health Science Centre instilled a lifelong passion for helping others in their time of need.
Upon graduating from Portage Collegiate Institute, he enrolled at the University of Manitoba where he studied Politics and History. The experience he gained in Portage and the passion for helping others eventually led him to work at the Manitoba Legislature for the Minister of Families.
Devoting his time at the Manitoba legislature, Colin quickly became the Executive Assistant to the Minister of Sport, Culture, and Heritage and the Minister of Natural Resources and Northern Development, where he is now the Special Assistant. He has also worked on a number of successful political campaigns since 2019.
Today, Colin wants to give back to the community that helped raise him. He has the professional and political experience to ensure the constituents of Portage la Prairie are heard at the Manitoba Legislature.
